Played a little hide and seek with my friend anolis carolinensis on this lazy Sunday. The Carolina green anole is definitely one of my favorite creatures in South Carolina. I just love how their bright green bodies blend invisibly with their surrounðings. What if they a not near something green, you ask? Well, they can also change to a nice reddish brown and hide on tree trunks or brick walls. I especially like how chill they are. They hardly ever scurry away. They are probably pretty confident in their camo skills. They just stay put and stare you down then cock their head to the side as if to say, “Hi, we good?”
I think I will have to paint a few of these soon. I started a lino cut of one, but I haven’t finished it.
